Controls Engineer

Job Description

  • Designs, develops, installs, and supports industrial control systems and Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications.
  • Provides project management services on directly assigned projects.
  • Interfaces with customers during the design and implementation of control systems.
  • Assists in the development of quotations and functional specifications.
  • May be required to work independently or as a member of a project team.
  • May provide training in control systems concepts, practices, and procedures to other Controls Engineers.
  • Develops and maintains good customer relations.
  • Reports to the Manager of Controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelors degree in an engineering or technical discipline, or an associates degree in an engineering or technical discipline plus 2 years of equivalent field experience.
  • Experience with control system design and implementation concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with programmable controllers, motor/motor controllers, electronic sensors and instrumentation.
  • Experience reading P&ID (process and instrumentation diagram) drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) software, Microsoft Office applications, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards, regulations and practices.;
  • Experience with servo controls.
  • Automation, validation, and GMP experience in the pharmaceutical/medical devices industry.

Panel Designer

Job Description

  • Performs CAD work to design and develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bill of materials.
  • Investigates and recommends components based on the application and environment while maintaining compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Performs heating and/or cooling calculations during the panel design phase to ensure components are used within their ratings.
  • Interfaces with the Controls Department to ensure designs and layouts are appropriate for the control system.
  • Interfaces with customers during the quotation, design, and implementation phases of projects.
  • Responsible for meeting project milestones and communicates any concerns or issues with the Control Engineer and Department manager
  • Assists the Sales Department develop quotations for control systems and panels as required.
  • Assists the other Designers by finalizing drawings and redlining drawings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires an associate degree in an engineering or technical discipline and a minimum of 2 years of job-related experience, or a minimum of 4 years of job-related experience.
  • Experience with programmable controllers, motor/motor controllers, electronic sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Experience reading P&ID (process and instrumentation diagram) drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards, regulations, and best practices (includes UL 508A, NFPA 70 and NFPA 79 standards).
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage and track multiple concurrent projects and assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and on small teams as each project requires.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with control system design and implementation concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficient use with AutoCAD Electrical 2018 or higher

Process Engineer

Overview

GES Automation Technology is seeking a Process Engineer. This position is responsible for leading and participating in multi-disciplinary teams that design and execute process upgrade projects for GES clients, a majority of those in the food manufacturing segment.  Work is focused within a three-hour radius of Harrisburg, PA, with limited travel.

Responsibilities

  • Design and support industrial process systems
  • Provide project management services, including responsibility for cost, manpower, and schedule
  • Develop project drawings and write specifications for equipment and contractor work
  • Interface directly with the client throughout the project cycle, from initial development to implementation
  • Manage a variety of outside contractors during project installation and startup
  • Estimate project costs and pursue business development opportunities
  • Source and procure equipment required for project design and execution

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a degree in process, chemical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, or other related curriculum
  • 3-5 years supporting work experience
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Comfortable working in industrial manufacturing environments
  • Strong project management skills
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal and external project team members
  •  Commitment to comply with company and client safety policies
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with:
  • Food, beverage, and/or pharmaceutical process systems
  • P&ID (process and instrumentation diagram) drawings and electrical schematics
  • Sanitary process system design standards such as USDA, 3A, and EHEDG
  • Process instrumentation and componentry
  • PLC-based control system hardware and software
  • Automation, validation, and good manufacturing practice experience in relevant industries
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards, regulations, and practices
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software
  • Experience managing electrical and mechanical contractors
