Controls Service Engineer

POSITION: Controls Service Engineer

The Controls Service Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, designing, and developing control systems in an industrial environment. This role includes managing, repairing, and enhancing systems like HMI (Human Machine Interface) applications and automation controllers (PLC, PAC, DCS) to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely. Key objectives involve optimizing performance, reliability, and safety by leveraging automation and control technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot control system issues to ensure real-time resolution.
  • Respond promptly to customer service requests and provide technical support.
  • Design, develop, install, and support modifications for industrial control systems and HMI applications.
  • Manage directly assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate with customers to service and modify control systems effectively.
  • Support the Sales team by providing technical input for quotations and scope documentation.
  • Work independently or as part of a project team, depending on the task requirements.
  • Train customers and colleagues on control systems concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through excellent service and communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting control systems and industrial electrical equipment.
  • Strong ability to drive continuous improvement in processes and technologies, fostering innovation and efficiency within the team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a drug and alcohol test.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or technical discipline, or an Associate’s Degree in an engineering or technical discipline plus two (2) years of equivalent field experience.
  • Experience with control system troubleshooting, design and implementation concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with programmable controllers, motor/motor controllers, electronic sensors and instrumentation.
  • Experience reading P&ID (process and instrumentation diagram) drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) software, Microsoft Office applications, and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards, regulations and practices.
  • Experience with servo controls.
  • Automation, validation, and GMP experience in the pharmaceutical/medical devices industry.

Controls Design Manager

POSITION: CONTROLS DESIGN MANAGER

The Controls Design Manager is responsible for leading the Controls Design department, ensuring the effective execution of control panel design projects through proper staffing, prioritization, and adherence to company and customer standards. This role focuses on people leadership, workload management, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination, while maintaining sufficient technical oversight to ensure quality and consistency of design deliverables.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Controls Designers and Senior Controls Designers through coaching, performance management, onboarding, and training.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
  • Plan departmental workload, staffing, priorities, and work assignments to meet business and project needs.
  • Ensure design deliverables meet scope, schedule, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Balance project execution with long-term team development and identify skill gaps and training opportunities.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineering, panel building, and other departments to support successful project execution and resolve design-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL 508A, company and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and enforce controls design standards, procedures, best practices, and documentation requirements.
  • Review and approve drawings, design packages, redlines, and release documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Oversee part selection, standardization, substitutions, and maintenance of design libraries and databases.
  • Drive continuous improvement in design quality, standardization, workflows, documentation, and engineering tools.
  • Provide technical leadership and serve as the escalation point for complex electrical controls design decisions, including AutoCAD, EPLAN, panel design, and documentation standards.
  • Serve as the primary representative for the Controls Design department, communicating priorities, supporting customer interactions, and aligning departmental objectives with company strategy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Demonstrate experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of industrial control systems and control panel design practices.
  • Ability to balance technical oversight with people and process management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline with a minimum of six (6) years of related experience, or
  • Associate degree in engineering or technical discipline with a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.
  • Prior experience managing or leading an engineering or controls design team.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, EPLAN, and industrial control standards.
  • Experience with UL 508A compliance and interpretation.
  • Experience driving process improvement or standardization initiatives.

Process Engineer

POSITION: Process Engineer

The Process Engineer is responsible for leading and participating in multi-disciplinary teams that design and execute process upgrade projects for GES clients, a majority of those in the food manufacturing segment. This role will include designing, optimizing, and overseeing processes involved in manufacturing and production, to include analyzing workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance quality. The Process Engineer’s goal is to collaborate with team members within production, quality, and maintenance to ensure processes are safe, efficient, and compliant with industry standards to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and support industrial process systems.
  • Provide project management services, including responsibility for cost, manpower, and schedule.
  • Develop project drawings and write specifications for equipment and contractor work.
  • Interface directly with the client throughout the project cycle, from initial development to implementation.
  • Manage a variety of outside contractors during project installation and startup.
  • Estimate project costs and pursue business development opportunities.
  • Source and procure equipment required for project design and execution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and organization.
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three (3)- Five (5) years supporting work experience.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Food, beverage, and/or pharmaceutical process systems.
    • P&ID (process and instrumentation diagram) drawings and electrical schematics.
    • Sanitary process system design standards such as USDA, 3A, and
      EHEDG.
    • Process instrumentation and componentry.
    • PLC-based control system hardware and software.

POSITION: Software Developer

The Software Developer will bring in-depth technical expertise to develop innovative solutions within the automation sector, promoting significant professional growth and advancement. The Software Developer is expected to master their specialty areas and remain adept across various technological landscapes. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create modern, intuitive graphic user interfaces maximizing reusability through templates and standard code.
  • Collaborate and work solo to create and upkeep software solutions across various automation tasks such as business software, data analytics and reporting, process
    visualization, web and administrative interfaces, and desktop tools.
  • Develop software architecture following industry standards, focusing on enhancing performance, usability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Produce clean, effective, and thoroughly documented code in compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Design and maintain front-end UI and back-end database solutions that perform efficiently and accurately to accomplish required tasks.
  • Oversee projects from start to finish, encompassing planning, task allocation, and managing timelines.

Panel Builder

The Panel Builder is responsible for assembling and wiring electrical control panels according to detailed schematics and design specifications. The Panel Builder works closely with Engineers and Designers to ensure panels are built to the required standards and meet safety regulations. The Panel Builder’s goal is to produce reliable and efficient electrical control panels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assembly and wiring of industrial control panels.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to read controls schematics.
  • Must be able to safely operate power and hand tools.
  • Must be able to lift 80 pounds.
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year panel building experience.
  • Must have a solid working knowledge of electricity.
  • Forklift operating experience.
